Update to the ponies event: signups
Hey, everyone! While this was discussed in chat and plurk, we figured it'd be best to make an OOC post so that anyone can participate. As an update to the ponies and Discord plot, we have a method for your characters to be able to defeat Discord and stop the chaos around the ship!
Since the elements of harmony are not available for your characters to use against him, they can try a different method...tricking Discord into breaking the rules so much that he undoes himself. In this case, they can entrap him in one of the experiments!
Knowing his penchant for rule-breaking, characters can come up with an idea to essentially trap him inside an experiment, and share that plan with others. Then, someone will have to convince the Mads that they should send up an extra experiment this week in order to drive them further to insanity. In this case, the Mads will send up the first chapter of Left Behind (a book we had considered putting on the riff list, but ultimately decided against for a number of reasons.) Discord will put up another post later, wherein two characters can bait him into riffing with them. During the riff itself, if characters lead him in that direction, Discord will discover that this book about the apocalypse is actually quite boring, and that he can make it a lot more painful itself! With his fourth-wall breaking skills, Discord can insert himself into the story itself to wreak his own form of chaos...and as soon as he does, other characters watching the riff can convince the Mads to immediately shut the experiment off. As long as no one watches or reads the story reel, Discord will be trapped inside the story, and his chaos will be undone! Then, it's just a matter of getting rid of the story reel itself!
We'll need a few characters (quicker taggers are preferred, but anyone can sign up) to fill in roles to take down Discord for good! Therefore, sign up here for any one of the following roles:
1) At least one character needed to come up with the idea ICly, and let everyone know about it, probably in a log where Discord can't hear easily.
2) Two characters to talk to the Mads: one to convince them to give them the extra experiment, and one to convince them to stop it short once Discord invades the story.
3) Two characters willing to bait Discord and then riff with him. You do not need to actually do a riff of the book, you can just log what happens during the riff (although if you really want to, you'll get extra morale points!) If you need the actual chapter, it can be made available.
Everyone else can just work on trying to help their friends who have been desaturated and corrupted by Discord's magic...in those cases, love and strong friendships are your best weapon!
