on roleplaying meta-ness and who's involved

Hey guys!

So I have brought it up in the chat a lot and kind of handwaved it, but I figured I should make it a little more...official?

For those of you who just game in, a while back Liz and Minako were playtesting a cracky revamp of Dungeons and Dragons that they'd put together, to make up for the fact that a: the only copy of D&D they had was 4th edition, and b: last time they tried to play that, Tom Servo was dungeonmaster. While this wasn't logged out because I figured we'd get tired of meta-RPing D&D every week and it wouldn't be NEARLY as funny as that first game with Servo, I've kind of assumed that they continued weekly D&D nights, and then after Christmas they switched over to the first edition Warhammer Fantasy RPG when Liz got a copy from Dr. F.

So I'm just wondering, who all would be in this campaign, or would have been for any stretch of time? It doesn't really have to affect anything, it's just a few hours a week and we're on double time IRL XD I'm just wondering in case somebody ever wants to mention it to newbies or share some banter with each other about some Noodle Incident that might've happened in the game or things like that. Plus it might helps us keep track of some side CR? Something like that, but yeah, I'm just wondering who here would be okay with saying they spend their Thursday nights on perilous adventures or some such shenanigans.

Terra's been playing since Tom Servo's DM trial.

Perry doesn't play but can sometimes be found chilling on Liz's lap or in a corner being a platypus.

Maes doesn't play and I'm not sure of Kaldur's involvement or not.

Also, I'm debating a running gag of terrible things happening to Terra's character on a near weekly basis.

and btw, if you're watching the review, I decided that Liz has made the randomness on character creation, to some degree, optional, since I'm assuming most of the people she'd be playing this with are coming in from D&D so she may as well make it easy on the newbies XD

Hey, if there's anything I've learned from watching people play D&D, it's that hilarity comes from the bad rolls. And also that the dice hate you. It's up to you in the end, but I am all for this XD

Also I just love the idea of Perry being the game mascot, so to speak XD ♥

Well as we all know the dice especially hates terra...to an absurd degree. He's probably even tried different dice and it just...doesn't help.

I'm not sure either of my others know about it, but if it's something that comes up fairly regularly Ienzo is at least passingly interested although he doesn't actually play (yet).

Pinkie plays! And she brings refreshments every week! It is the most sugar-coma-inducing tabletop group ever. o.o

Also her character probably does random insane shit all the time. Because. Pinkie Pie. xD

Sora's also been playing since they first tried with Tom Servo! Sam has no interest in it, and Ammy can't play as much.

Isa plays. He might not play in every session, but he plays.

Hope may have checked it out, but I'm not sure if he liked it.

Luna and Kotetsu have probably both peeked in a couple of times, just to watch, but got confused and never joined in.

Kanji doesn't know about it. Which... might be for the best. XD

Maku... Uh. idk, honestly. ^^; I'mma just say he's been too busy and/or self-conscious to go. ...yet.

Twilight would be interested in trying it! She's analyze it down to the bone, though. You'd come in one day, Liz, and find her buried behind ALL THE RULEBOOKS EVER and evaluating strategy and memorizing the rules. She wouldn't go as far as being a min-maxer but she'd be something of a rules lawyer because... TWILIGHT. THAT RULE IS THERE FOR A REASON.

Ven probably comes along since Aqua and Terra both play, but I'm not sure how involved he gets himself. He probably sat out the first couple sessions just watching in confusion until someone cajoled him to role up a character, but I don't know if it stuck. Zidane would peek in every once in awhile, but the less theatrical it is, the less likely it is to hold his attention. If the sessions were roleplaying and not just hack-n-slash-with-numbers, she'd have a greater chance of holding on to him. He'd always be willing to help with plot twists if she needed them, though.

In other words, teach Twilight the concept of the House Rule ASAP XD

Also Liz is a great encourager of roleplaying. Hack and slash happens, but characters are characters XD heck, in the session of Warhammer she has on her blog the beginning of it is just a scene of her character trying to get warm clothing for the winter XD

LOL I can see Terra and Aqua trying to explain it to him while playing themselves. Terra doesn't completely get it either but he's learned a lot since he started...he just wishes his rolls would stupid sucking.

Linkara has, of course, been playing from the beginning and snarking like mad. At least it's nice to have someone who already knows the rules, right?

Rarity has probably tagged along with Pinkie and Twilight for a few sessions, but she doesn't really play - violence is not her thing, after all. If Liz has any shopkeeper NPCs who sell armor or clothes, however, she is definitely all over those.

Doof...just don't even tell him about the game. It'll go better that way. |D
